Concordia Seminary Theological Symposium: Ministry in Mental Health

September 22 - September 23

Concordia Seminary’s 36th Annual Theological Symposium, “I Will Uphold You … with My righteous right hand: Ministry in Mental Health,” will take place Sept. 22-23 on campus. Get more info and register here. Deadline is Sept. 8.

The symposium will examine the church’s role in caring for those experiencing mental health challenges, particularly as mental health care has become increasingly associated with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other licensed professionals, often to the exclusion of pastors and their spiritual care of souls.

  • Plenaries:

  • “Queering the Mind Against Reality and Truth” presented by Dr. Mark Rockenbach, professor of Practical Theology, director of Personal Growth and Leadership Development, director of Institutional Review Board, Concordia Seminary.
  • “Theology and Psychology: Exploring the Nexus of Care” presented by Dr. Beverly Yahnke, executive director for Christian Counsel at DOXOLOGY: The Lutheran Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel, Brookfield, Wis.

Registration
General registration is $190. Concordia Seminary faculty and students may attend the symposium free of charge but must preregister.
