Grace and peace to each of you servants of Christ Jesus,
With joy in the Lord, I extend this invitation to you to attend the 67th Northwest District convention to be held at the Spokane Convention Center alongside the beautiful Spokane River in downtown Spokane, Washington on June 19-21, 2025. Registration to attend the convention and secure housing is now open. All delegates need to register online to attend.
In a world filled with competing interests, intentions, and internal motivators which keep people moving in one direction or another – and so often farther apart – what is our direction as faithful followers of Jesus Christ? What is our aim? Praise God, he does not leave us to wonder about that. His word tells us clearly. That word of God is our convention theme: The Aim of Our Charge is Love. In 1 Timothy 1:5, God’s Word not only gives us that loving aim, but even tells us from where it comes: “The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
At the convention, there will be times to refresh our faith in worship and Bible study. We will have times to celebrate ministry, hearing about what the Lord is doing through our Synod nationally and our part in that through congregations and ministries located right here in the Northwest District. With hearts purified by the forgiving grace of God in Christ we will elect leaders, discuss resolutions, and take encouragement together in ways that we, who are loved by God in Christ and sent by Him, aim to carry His love to the world. Thanks for offering your time to take part in it all. Your faithful voice matters.
Lord Jesus, you came into this world so the steadfast love of the Father would be made known to us. As we prepare for this coming convention, may your Spirit remind us of your words to us, strengthen us with faithful sincerity, enable us to make decisions in keeping with a good conscience, and with purified hearts gather us together around your aim to draw all people to yourself. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
In Jesus,
Rev. Mike Von Behren
President, Northwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod
