2025 NOW District Convention – Day 3
With limited time and a lot of work still left to do, the final day of the 2025 NOW District Convention was busy from start to finish.
Rev. Dr. Phil Brandt from St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Portland began the day with a fantastic Bible study and table discussion time focused on 1 Timothy. This was followed by the first of two sessions of Floor Committee work.
Delegates worked together to adopt the following Resolutions:
Resolution 1-05 – To Strengthen the Participation of Ministers of Religion – Commissioned at Northwest District Conventions
Resolution 1-06 – To Support and Clarify the Prior Approval Process
Resolution 1-07 – To Respectfully Decline Overtures
Resolution 2-03 – To Celebrate and Encourage the Variety of Routes to Pastoral Formation in the LCMS
Resolution A – Omnibus A – To Refer Overtures to Individual or Entities
The morning also included a brief greeting from LWML presidents, a video from Lutheran Hour Ministries, and the installation of officers. All outgoing leaders and BOD members were recognized and thanked for their dedicated service.
Before the gavel came down, a choir from New Vision Lutheran Church in Spokane raised their voices in a beautiful song. New Vision is a multi-ethnic gathering of people from the Marshall Islands in the Pacific as well as Thailand, Vietnam, and other areas in Southeast Asia. Their ministry serves as an example of 2023 Synod Resolution 1-06A, which celebrated that the U.S. is a place where various cultures and ethnicities of people encounter the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enter with us into his mission. It was a moving way to close our time together.
We are thankful for all who attended, exhibited, presented, and worked hard to make this gathering a success.
