Psalm 100:5 says the “Lord is Good. His steadfast love endures forever.” However, we often hear the phrase, or see it on our t-shirts, “life is good.” Peter was wearing one of those proverbial shirts when he realized the Messiah, the Christ, had come. When Jesus talked about suffering, Peter rebuked him. Jesus put Peter back into his place as a follower — and by following, Peter came to learn that the gospel is good news but includes suffering. The suffering of Jesus is proof that the Lord is good. He is good to forgive, he is good to save, and he is good to love us with a steadfast love.
This Six Mission Minutes comes from Seaside, Oregon, from the end of our All Worker’s Conference where the theme verse was from Peter, 1 Peter 5:10 — and where Lutheran school teachers like Leslie from Trinity in Portland found encouragement for her mission to share the good news with kids that the Lord is good.
