Pastor Wives Celebrate the Bond of Walking a Similar Path

The 2026 Pastor’s Wives Retreat was a wonderful success!

This year, we were blessed to welcome both familiar faces and a few new ones. Among those attending was one woman whose husband is only six months into his call, while others are now in a season well beyond retirement. It continues to amaze me how the connection and camaraderie of shared experience bind us together so quickly and deeply. No matter what stage of ministry life we are in, there is a special bond that comes from walking a similar path.

Our speaker, pastor’s wife and deaconess Noemi Guerra, was a tremendous blessing. She led us in a study on Luke 10:38–42 titled, “Sitting and Serving.” Through her teaching, she guided us in understanding the place for both sitting and serving in our lives, and how, when each is done in the right way and in the proper order, both can lead us into a deeper relationship with Jesus and with those around us. Her presentation was thoughtful, energetic, and inspiring.

The weekend’s activities also included a scavenger hunt throughout the hotel. Everyone was divided into themed teams and challenged to complete a series of fun photo tasks. One especially sweet addition to this year’s retreat was a newborn baby, who was included in everything and appeared in many of the scavenger hunt pictures. Seeing her in the photos made the whole experience both touching and hilarious. Later, we shared the pictures together and voted for a winner, and it was a joyful time filled with laughter.

We were also especially grateful to Katrina Barnes, Licensed Family Therapist, for joining us again for the third year. Katrina generously offers personal time to anyone who would like to talk, and many have taken advantage of this gift. Life in ministry can sometimes feel isolating and lonely, and having someone who can listen, encourage, and reflect with us is such a blessing. We are deeply thankful for Katrina, for her support, and for the caring ministry she provides.

While plans for next year’s retreat have not yet been finalized, we encourage you to watch for future emails and updates on our Facebook page. Contact Michele Sprengle if you would like to be added to the email list. We are so grateful for this wives ministry, and we invite you all to stay connected there while we are apart.

We thank God for the encouragement, fellowship, laughter, and rest He provided throughout this retreat. Thank you to all who attended and helped make the weekend so meaningful. We are already looking forward to gathering again next year.
